Assassin's creed help needed?

im in the memory block 5 in damascus. im doing the mission with the timed informant where you have to kill three people without being detected in under 3 minutes. My problem is that every time i go to assassinate one of them, i get detected and the mission fails. there seems to be no way to get the men away from people to kill them. can someone please help me with this problem?
